CCG MeetingSeptember 21, 2006

After a very busy summer, we are ready to jump back in to regular CCG meetings! I hope that you have all had good summers and many successes in your communication endeavors. I look forward to meeting again soon so that we can catch up with each other and continue to share ideas and resources.

Welcome
CCG extends a warm welcome to Aaron Winn, who recently joined the In The Round team as lead visual designer. Since graduating from Malone, he has served as Director of Marketing for Barbour Publishing and freelanced as a graphic designer. At the same time, he has also served as a pastor in Massillon and Philadelphia and is currently working on an M.Div. at Ashland Theological Seminary. We look forward to incorporating his unique blend of ministry and marketing experience into our meetings.

Next Meeting
Date:                Thursday, September 21
Time:               10:00 am
Location:          In the Round (directions...) http://www.intheround.com/11
Topic:              The Billboard Principle: The fine art of not over-communicating
facilitated by Aaron Winn and Jackie Baker

How many words do you think you could read off a billboard at 65 mph? Six? Ten? Twenty? How many seconds do you think you have to grab a reader’s attention with your latest postcard or newsletter? Two seconds? Ten? Thirty? In our visually-saturated culture, you have less time than you think to communicate your message. At this round table discussion, we’ll wrestle with how to create communication pieces that effectively “salt” our audience’s limited attention leaving them “thirsty” for more. (Matt 5:13) This round table will allow plenty of time for discussion and sharing ideas, as well as practical design strategies for improving our communication efforts.

Assignment:     To make the most of this round table, please send two or three recent (or better yet, “under construction”) projects to jbaker@intheround.com by Monday, September 18. This will provide you the benefit of critical, but friendly input to enhance your project and will also provide material for our discussion.

RSVP:              To jbaker@intheround.com by Monday, September 18.

In addition to this month’s particular assignment, feel free to bring any other projects on which you would like feedback. As always, questions, new resources, ideas you’d like to share, and potential topics for upcoming meetings are welcome. If you know any church communicators from any area churches who might be interested, please invite them.
